During your initial consultation with Dr. Judge, you will discuss your aesthetic goals and she will create a custom treatment plan. Lip filler procedures are quick with limited discomfort. Injections typically take 30 minutes and Dr. Judge can provide you with a topical anesthetic to limit any pain. H.A. fillers are injected with a small, thin needle, which minimizes bruising. After the injections are made, Dr. Judge will massage the area to balance out the filler and to give you a natural look.*
Lip enhancement surgery is an outpatient procedure performed at our office in San Francisco. Dr. Judge will provide you with local anesthesia for this 30-60 minute procedure (each lip filler usually takes 30 minutes to enhance). After completely numbing your lips, Dr. Judge will make a small incision that will not be visible on the inside of each corner of your mouth. At the end of the procedure, she will use dissolvable suture to close the incisions.
For many of our clients, results can last from 6-12 months, with certain Juvéderm and Restylane products delivering fast results that last even longer.* However, each patient is unique, and the length or your results will depend on how quickly your body metabolizes the product. Eventually, dermal fillers do leave the system and touch-up treatments are recommended.
Following your lip surgery, you will be able to return home immediately. You may notice some swelling and bruising for the first 48 hours, but that usually passes after 5 days.* The recovery period is a little more rapid than other cosmetic surgeries; you should be back to normal within 7-10 days.* We advise you not to eat any crunchy or sharp-edged foods for about a week. Patients typically return to work within 5 days, though strenuous activity should be avoided for 14 days. Dr. Judge will schedule a follow-up, post-recovery visit to review your progress.
