Breast lift with augmentation is essentially two procedures combined into one. For certain women, a combination of a breast lift and augmentation can help restore size, shape, and position and as a result, restore confidence, too. Prior to the operation you will work with Dr. Judge to determine what type of augmentation is right for you: this includes distinguishing factors such as type of implant (silicone versus saline) and implant size or even fat grafting to the breasts. Incision location will be determined based on the shape and size of breasts. Dr. Judge will work with you to decide on the best course of action for your individual needs. Inserting the implant through an incision near the nipple, the fold beneath the breast, or the armpit are typical options that provide outstanding results for many patients.*
Performed under general anesthesia with a licensed anesthetist overseeing the procedure, this outpatient surgery takes anywhere from two to four hours depending on the degree of reconstruction needed. All of Dr. Judge’s breast lifts are performed at an outpatient surgery center.
A breast lift with augmentation is often times done as part of a Mommy Makeover, and the procedure can be combined with a tummy tuck or liposuction. Dr. Judge will discuss the best way to achieve your desired aesthetic during your consultation.
Expect to feel tired and sore after the procedure. There will be postoperative discomfort, but generally the pain is managed with oral pain killers and subsides within a couple of days.*
Additionally, it will be necessary to wear a specialized soft bra for providing added support for patients recovering from surgery.
Although the patient may go home after the surgery, they will be unable to perform any strenuous activity and it is important to limit movement so that the tissues may heal. It is advised that a capable adult stay with the patient for a 24 hour period following the surgery to monitor recovery.
Most patients are able to return to work within a week.*
